Brazil's policy of protecting Chinese enterprises from investment cooperation

1. China and Brazil signed a bilateral Investment protection agreement

In April 1994, China and the Brazilian Government signed the working text of the Agreement on The Encouragement and Mutual Protection of Investment, but this Agreement, like other bilateral investment protection agreements signed by the Brazilian Government, has not yet been ratified by the Brazilian Parliament.



2. China and Brazil signed an agreement on the avoidance of Double Taxation

In August 1991, the Governments of China and Brazil signed the Agreement between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Federal Republic of Brazil on the Avoidance of Double Taxation and the Prevention of Tax Evasion with respect to Income.



3. Other agreements signed between China and Brazil

The Chinese government and the Brazilian Government signed a bilateral trade agreement in January 1978 and a supplementary Protocol to the Trade Agreement in May 1984.



In 2006, the two sides signed the Agreement between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Federal Republic of Brazil on Strengthening Engineering And Construction Cooperation in the field of Infrastructure.



As a participant of the Forum for Economic and Trade Cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking Countries (Macao), Brazil signed the Programme of Action for Economic and Trade Cooperation in 2003 with the ministers of China, Angola, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Mozambique, Portugal and East Timor.



In addition, the two sides have signed the Agreement between the Government of the People's Republic of China and the Government of the Federal Republic of Brazil on Cooperation in Animal Quarantine and Animal Health, the agreement on scientific and technological cooperation, the agreement on cooperation in culture and education, and the agreement on maritime transport.
